Hey GUYS, Yes, This is for you.
It really is OKAY to have your photo taken...and to smile in photos with your Fiancé. Did you know that?
Why is it so easy for girls to get ready and plan an engagement session? First off, we are planners. We DREAM of the day we finally meet the "ONE!" We plan out the perfect man in our head and guess what? That perfect guy is you! So, lets all just take a deep breath, grab a beer and relax.
The First step is falling in love, CHECK.
The Second is putting a ring on it, CHECK.
The Third is planning engagement photos. (Yes, I know, another checklist. But guys, I promise you, this is every girls checklist)
You should always want to make your significant other happy and making girls happy is honestly super easy, just do what they say and it’s easy right? You should compliment each other, lift each other up, not tear each other down.
When you decide to do engagement photos, first you need to choose your photographer. Your Fiancé is going to be extremely happy and want to show you the photographers websites and ask your opinion. Please act happy or surprised and tell her how you feel about their portfolio. After all, these images will be on your walls too!
Engagement photos are to show off. You want to show your family and friends how happy you are. You want them to say "They are SO happy and get to spend the rest of their lives with the person of their dreams!" ...or something along those lines! And in that journey, engagement photos are the first step.
The day of your engagement session, make it a good day! Roll out of bed, stretch and breath in. It will all be over way sooner than you think. Plan to take your Fiancé to dinner after the shoot, that way, getting ready will be for more than a session lasting 30 to 60 minutes of your day.
BE NICE. I’m not going to lie. I have been photographing couples for 4 years now and I have seen girls that show up to the session in tears! I've seen couples fight during the session. And sometimes, the guys are stressed because they don’t want to be there...and they act like it. Believe me, if you are nice to your Fiancé before/during your session, it will show in your images. They will be elegant, fun, and playful. If you are fighting or agitated, it WILL show in your images. I can edit out blemishes and imperfections in the surroundings but I can't edit a bad attitude! Keeping a good attitude during your session will allow you to look back at the great day you had together, not recalling the fight you had.
Remember, she loves you! She wants to have fun with you! She wants you to love the little things she loves! While I'm sure you'd rather be chilling with the boys or watching sports, try to get through the session without complaining. Complain all you want before or after the shoot. You want great images. I want to take beautiful images of you! So, PLEASE BE NICE!So, on the day of your engagement session, set aside everything else, just for thirty minutes. That's all she's asking for. And we want to capture real, raw love and emotion. We want to capture all the happiness you share!
If you are still uptight and nervous, TAKE A SHOT. DRINK A BEER. TAKE A DEEP BREATH. It's only a half hour. Show your girl you care and while you're at it, bring me beer or we might be there for an hour...just a little tip for the fellas!
With warm wishes and tons of love
